HEAD OF SALES - Freight Forwarding

Our client is a true global leader in the provision of fully integrated end-to-end solutions tailored to its customers supply chain management needs. Operating a global network with over 400 branches in more the 60 countries and also cooperating closely with partner companies they strive to give there global customer base a unique tailored solution to their Air, Sea and Road Transport requirements. In 2012 they are moving into a new state of the art premises in Melbourne and are well positioned to take on the Australian market.

Reporting to the General Manager the successful candidate will be tasked with leading, driving and mentoring a state based sales force across Victoria. You will be part of the senior management team that will set and execute the sales strategy for the business to achieve challenging goals. To succeed in this role you will have a track sales record and have great commercial acumen, you will also be a true hand's on leader that can get the best out of people in a competitive market.

Key Tasks:

* Manage and control the sales force in the assigned sales territory
* Set the sales strategy and route to market
* Execute and control the sales activities in line with the validates sales plan
* As part of the senior management team within the business you will be responsible for setting the activity KPI's for all members of your team
* Develop business relationships with tier 1 & 2 clients to assist with growth
* Assure successful account integration to Operations, Customer Service
* Train all staff in the usage of all the company CRM system
* Review sales margin inline with company objectives
* Assure compliance with sales process

Experience Required:

* Must have first hand experience in developing and leading a state based sales force within the international freight market
* Business administration and commercial background
* Strong industry experience within a sales environment
* Functional experience in air / sea / customs brokerage
* Strong new business development experience with a track sales record
* Local market knowledge of the industry of both competitors & suppliers
* Expertise and professionalism in customer contacts, understanding of customer requirements, analysis and resolution of problems and complaints.
