Planning & Development Engineer (Civil Engineer) The Development Engineer is responsible for the best practice assessment and audit of project designs and proposals associated with subdivisional and commercial developments to ensure that the project specifications comply with the local Council's requirements, standards and codes. This position is further responsible for assisting other Council Infrastructure and Engineering Units as directed and assuming the roles and responsibilities of other positions within Development Infrastructure where levels of technical knowledge and skill deem it appropriate. Duties & Responsibilities A) Main Duties -Under the general direction of the Operation Works Coordinator, audit and assess drawings and documentation associated with planned developments to ensure that project specifications comply with Council's requirements for future Infrastructure and Land Use Planning, standards of practice, relevant codes and all technical engineering requirements while preparing reasonable and relevant comments and conditions as detailed during the development approval process. -Liaise with the Operational Works Coordinator to resolve design problems with assigned projects. -Provide technical advice and recommendations to relevant stakeholders in relation to Council's standards and codes of practice and non compliance issues relating to proposed development. -Contribute to the development and maintenance of Council's standards, guidelines and databases the design of constructed and donated Infrastructure Development of innovative and practical solutions for development and contribute to the continuous improvement of standards, policies and procedures. -As directed, assist the Development Approval Unit with investigations into the technical engineering requirements of proposed developments during the approval process and with assistance from the Development Approval Engineer set standards for technical compliance. -Contribute to the continuous improvement process processes and assist the operational Works -Coordinator in the development of innovative and practical solutions for scenarios where technical standards and operational policies do not exist. Job Requirements A) Skills & Knowledge -Well developed evaluation skills demonstrated by the ability technical knowledge and experience to the interpretation of technical drawings and design plans while providing accurate and appropriate recommendations and solutions for non compliance issues. -Well developed communication and negotiation skills as characterised be the ability to effectively communicate and provide recommendations and assistance to a broad range of Council's internal and external stakeholders. -Well developed time management and project management skills including the ability to prioritise tasks, assess and negotiate project timeframes within a dynamic working environment and appropriately redistribute reso |
