A Bachelor s degree and Registered Sick Children s Nurse Qualification is preferred. Minimum 2 to 5 years of clinical nursing experience post-registration, to include 2 years in Paediatrics. Duties & Responsibilities: Incumbent requires a thorough current knowledge in all aspects of Paediatric procedures and protocols and has demonstrated competency in this area. Performs all duties of the staff nurse plus the following: Acts as a resource to other staff members during the assessment of complex patient/family needs, and serves as direct care clinical resource in development and review of the patient's plan of care. Assists other staff members in improving their assessment skills, giving input when need is identified, and precepts new hires and mentors nursing staff with identified needs, under the direction of the Supervisor. Provides total, direct nursing care to patients requiring advanced, skilled or complex care. Assists physicians with the more complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Performs procedures requiring advanced competency skills or training in the expanded nursing roles. Participates in the planning, implementing and evaluation patient care conferences and unit in-services. Serves as a direct clinical resource in the development, review and revision, and implementation of nursing policies and procedures, standards of care and applicable medical organization policies. Experienced in chemotherapy administration. In general, all work is performed on a 24/7 rotational assignment of 12 hour shifts, consisting of days and nights.
