Server Network Operations Manager Job in Melbourne (Victoria, Australia)

Day to day responsibilities include:

-Manage the activities of the LAN/WAN team within the Infrastructure group of the IT department. This includes supervising a number of staff and contractors. It requires planning, resourcing and managing activities in line with the established priorities of the department.
-Ensure the LAN/WAN team monitors, maintains and controls the IT infrastructure related to servers, networks and communications. This includes providing day-to-day support and administration, as well as managing capacity and availability.
-Manage the company data centres. This includes ensuring the facilities are secure, environmental conditions are maintained and that they are developed to meet the computing needs of the business.
-Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans. This includes ensuring relevant plans are current and tested.
-Ensure the LAN/WAN team receives, responds to and handles requests in accordance with established procedures. Continuously improve LAN/WAN procedures. This includes developing, documenting and maintaining department business processes.
-Ensure infrastructure management systems are administered and maintained, including those used to manage networks, systems and security.
-Monitor the performance of LAN/WAN operations and the IT infrastructure. This includes providing routine reports to IT management.
-Liaise with other infrastructure and applications support personnel to identify repeat incidents, resolve problems not previously encountered and initiate changes to avoid recurrence.
-Assist IT management with strategies for the ongoing development Essential Qualifications/Experience:
-An IT tertiary qualification or equivalent.
-A relevant IT industry certification (e.g. Microsoft MCSE).
-Two years experience managing people working in technical support roles.
-Five years experience in a network administration or systems engineering role within a complex IT infrastructure environment. Essential Skills, Knowledge & Attributes:

-Demonstrate an understanding of IT quality management systems.
-Demonstrate competence in the development and support of server computers operating on the following platforms: Microsoft Windows/Intel, IBM iSeries, VMWare, Citrix.
