An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a well established commercial construction company based here in Melbourne. You will be working on a landmark project valued at $200 million.
Reporting into the Senior Design Manager, the role will involve liaising with the client, external consultants and architects as well as managing all facets of the design process to ensure that the design and documents related to the project meet with the organisations contractual and commercial obligations.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Design Manager will include
-To carry out design tasks, including reviewing all incoming Client variations for scope and design changes;
-Manage design coordination and ensure design is completed well in advance of construction;
-Managing relationships with design consultants;
-Manage shop drawing process co-ordinating design requirements with Consultants;
-Manage the interface between construction activities and design;
-Participate in negotiations with subcontractors regarding price and terms, ensuring they are in time with design requirements;
-Work with construction team to identify project opportunity and risks, develop strategies and conduct investigations to minimise exposure to that risk and maximise value achieved from opportunity;
-Work with the construction team to manage all facets of the design process to ensure that the design and documents related to the project reflect obligation under contract; To be considered for the role of Design Manager you will require:
-Relevant tertiary qualifications
-Proven experience on large complex Design and Construct projects, ideally in excess of $50million
-Programming - high degree of proficiency in using Microsoft Project
-Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills About the company
